Denise and I started the Kitfox 7 four years ago, and began test flights at the end of June '07. We are co-builders as she has a privateticket and I have a C.M.I.

We chose the Kitfox because of it's short field capability and the quality of the kit. We were only able to get about 900 feet of runway on our property. Her only request was tri-gear, and since the Fox can be converted back and forth, I said "you got it". It will also do really well on amphibs. I chose to power it with the Rotax 912S, which is 100hp and is partially water cooled. No overheating on climbout and no worries about shock cooling.

I wrestled with the painting idea, then I just told myself if can build it I can paint it. Although Krylon is about as far as I've gone before. So, here I go with the pvc pipe and the plastic sheeting...poof, paint booth.

I knew the wiring was too much to tackle, but if you just run one wire at a time and not worry about how overwhelming it is, the first thing you know, it's all done. And if I do say so myself everything worked on the first smoke check.

I wish we weren't so far from the chapter, because we love being around aviators. After flight testing and short field proving we'll be bringing our sweet little plane home. If you're out this way, drop by and say hi. Ask Jimmie, Chuck, and Brian about the view, you'll be glad you came.
