Minutes of Feb. 07 2008 Monthly Meeting.
General.
The meeting was opened, at 7.00 PM, at the Simplify offices, by Bob Reese, the new President, who introduced himself and talked some of the plans he has for the next two years. He mentioned that his son flies U-2s and would like to have him make a presentation sometime later this year.
There were no minutes for the January meeting since that meeting was the annual banquet.
Visitors.
Several visitors introduced themselves including Jack bell who is building an Avid Catalina.
Treasurers Report.
Brad Bellamy, the new Treasurer, indicated a current bank balance of $ 20,663.40 which is approximately $ 200 less than this time last year.
Membership dues of $15.00 are due now for this year. Cash, checks and money orders accepted.
Callender.
Next meeting will be Thursday March 6., with a new meeting location to be advised.
New Business.
Dan Badwey raised the question of awarding plaques for first flights to roster members
who are inactive and do not even arrange to pick them up. The general consensus was that we should not do this. Dan agreed to draft a preliminary policy for Chapter approval.
Brad Bellamy indicated that the current published roster has not been updated in some time and that it will need to be revised to include only current dues paying members.
Projects and First Flights
Andrew Gilliam recorded a first flight in an RV-9A
Sid Mann had a first flight in his RV-6A
Barry Gould had a first flight in a Zodiac 601 XL
Bill Bennett has 28 hrs on his RV which is waiting for a repitched prop.
Brad Bellamy indicated his progress on an RV-7A and discussed the use of Jet Glo Sherwin Williams paint, available in San Antonio.
Program.
After the break an excellent program was presented by Calvin Knight and Wayne McGrew from the Waco based “ Free Flight Systems” based in Waco.
The subject was “ What’s new in GPS” and in particular the latest products in an extensive range of GPS based navigation systems and other related products for general, commercial and military aviation applications.
The meeting was closed at approximately 9.00 PM
